Hiii guys, so, yesterday I attended the Lakes international comic festival based in Kendal (UK) and actually met one of my most epic influences, Junko Mizuno herself! (She's on one of my influence map pages and all! XD)
If you haven't heard of her, she's well known for her cute, doll-like girls and manga style. Here is an example of her work: media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236…
Her comic works include the titles: "Pure Trance" "Little Fluffy Gigolo Pelu" and "Hell Babies", and also some of her own fairy-tale depictions: "Cinderella", "Hansel and Gretel" and "Princess Mermaid".
Support and check her out on her official site, www.mizuno-junko.com/

At the Brewery Arts Centre, Mizuno had an hour long panel, taking us all through her journey, her inspirations, her methodology and so on, basically her views on life in general. To her, life and her art is seen not as something harsh and grotesque, but all natural and wonderful. She mentioned a few of her comforts whilst growing up, such as polly pockets, my little pony and strawberry shortcake, (a very fairy kei theme going on here) and being inspired by many great artists across the globe, including the two manga greats: Osamu Tezuka and Fujiko Fujio.
It was pretty interesting to know her view on things, especially how she sees her work not as something to do, but to do for fun.
Finally afterwards, I managed to tell her she's amazing and inspiring..while signing two Pelu books for me! Woop! (Gosh I sound like some creepy fan girl..) XD It was a brilliant day for me in Kendal, twas my first time there lol, having a nosy at other great comic artists too! >DD
Which reminds me, I really need to update my work soon! :3
Thanks for reading guys!
